The Joys of Buying an Older Home

My dream home was not new construction in a planned community. It was a rambling old structure in a neighborhood that was beginning to recover after years of decline. I got the place for a song and started in on all the tasks associated with restoring it to new glory. I soon found there was a lot to do. While the house was sound, it needed to be fumigated after several years of standing vacant. All the tile needed replacing, and the floors cried out for refinishing. Little by little, I got the place ready for me to move in. Today, I like to think it is the nicest home on the block. If you are thinking of buying a fixer-upper, try my tips. From redoing the wallpaper to choosing the right pest control service, what I learned will save you a lot of time and trouble.

Tips For Choosing The Best Hammock For Your Backyard

Whether your lawn consists of a sprawling country space or a small yard in a city, adding a hammock to your outdoor space is one of the easiest ways to create the perfect haven for rest and relaxation. However, shopping for a hammock may not be so easy, as there are multiple varieties to choose from. Follow these tips to help you shop like a pro, and select the hammock best suited for your needs.

Fabric hammocks

If style and color matter to you, a hammock constructed of fabric is a great choice. Fabric hammocks can be found in striped or floral designs, as well as solid colors. They are a great choice if your backyard needs a refreshing pop of color.

Choose a beachy or nautical-themed fabric hammock to create a coastal atmosphere in your outdoor space. Dress up a cottage or country-themed space with a floral fabric hammock to add a perfect touch of charm to your yard. If your outdoor space contains a lot of colorful flowers and accent pieces, choose a hammock in a neutral color to tone down the busyness.

Rope hammocks

One of the most popular hammock styles is the rope hammock. Woven with cotton or polyester, rope hammocks are a great choice for hot climates, as the open weave design allows airflow to filter through the hammock to help keep you cool. Rope hammocks are perfect if you prefer a natural or outdoorsy look.

Rope hammocks are also a great fit for rustic or farmhouse-themed spaces. Their simple design makes them a good choice for modern themes too. Toss a fun accent pillow on a rope hammock to add just a hint of color to your outdoor space.

Chair and swing style hammocks

If you wish to combine relaxation with a little adventure, a hammock chair or swing is a fun option for any backyard. Whether you want to swing in the breeze or relax with your favorite book, a swing or chair hammock will give you plenty of reasons to smile.

A chair or swing-style hammock will require strong support for hanging. A sturdy tree branch, solid arbor post, or porch ceiling will work well. You can also purchase a hammock chair stand if you do not have another option.

Imagine coming home from work and heading to your backyard to nap in the great outdoors or spending a lazy weekend afternoon reading your favorite book outside in comfort. With a backyard hammock, your resting and relaxation dreams can become a reality.
