The Joys of Buying an Older Home

My dream home was not new construction in a planned community. It was a rambling old structure in a neighborhood that was beginning to recover after years of decline. I got the place for a song and started in on all the tasks associated with restoring it to new glory. I soon found there was a lot to do. While the house was sound, it needed to be fumigated after several years of standing vacant. All the tile needed replacing, and the floors cried out for refinishing. Little by little, I got the place ready for me to move in. Today, I like to think it is the nicest home on the block. If you are thinking of buying a fixer-upper, try my tips. From redoing the wallpaper to choosing the right pest control service, what I learned will save you a lot of time and trouble.

What Should Go in Your Bouquet? Romantic Flowers and the Meanings behind Them

With so many flowers and flower combinations to choose from, designing your wedding bouquet can be a daunting task. In addition to selecting flowers you like, you may also want to think about the meaning behind the different types of flowers. Many flowers represent romantic messages that might be perfect for your wedding day.

Can't decide which colors to incorporate? The color of your bouquet can have deep meaning as well. For example, red and white represents unity while yellow stands for hopelessly in love. And as always, red is an expression of passionate love.

Following are just a few of the most romantic flowers and the meanings behind them.

Pink Peonies

Standing for romance, prosperity and good fortune, pink peonies are ideal for wedding bouquets. When incorporated into a bouquet, they are believed to bring the couple good fortune and a happy marriage.

White Daisies

The pure, simple petals of the white daisy symbolizes loyal love, beauty, purity, innocence and patience. These flowers are ideal for the bride who wants a simple, non-fussy bouquet that possesses a great deal of symbolism and meaning.

Red Tulips

Thought to represent perfect love, red tulips have a dark, black center that stands for a heart that's darkened by passion. These flowers are great for couples who have a fiery passion for each other and want to include something in their ceremony that represents their feelings for one another.

Yellow Sunflowers

Although they are not one of the most common flowers incorporated into wedding bouquets, yellow sunflowers represent a great deal of sentiment that might be perfect for your wedding day. In addition to standing for happiness and longevity, this flower also represents adoration.

Purple Lilac

Said to represent the first bloom of love, purple lilacs are an ideal flower for any wedding bouquet. When paired with a purple rose, this flower is thought to represent love at first sight, which is perfect for couples who've had a whirlwind romance.

Purple Iris

This delicate flower represents faith and promise, two sentiments that are ideal for any wedding. Yellow iris flowers can also have great meaning in a bouquet since they stand for passion.

As you can see, different types of flowers and even different colors of flowers can have profound meaning. If you're having difficulty deciding which flowers to include in your bouquet, think about creating a meaningful bouquet where all the flowers stand for something that you love about your fiancé, your relationship or your dreams for the future.
