The Joys of Buying an Older Home

My dream home was not new construction in a planned community. It was a rambling old structure in a neighborhood that was beginning to recover after years of decline. I got the place for a song and started in on all the tasks associated with restoring it to new glory. I soon found there was a lot to do. While the house was sound, it needed to be fumigated after several years of standing vacant. All the tile needed replacing, and the floors cried out for refinishing. Little by little, I got the place ready for me to move in. Today, I like to think it is the nicest home on the block. If you are thinking of buying a fixer-upper, try my tips. From redoing the wallpaper to choosing the right pest control service, what I learned will save you a lot of time and trouble.

4 Tips For Properly Watering Your Lawn

Most homeowners would love to have a beautiful green lawn. Getting the lawn that you want doesn't have to be a lot of work. Instead, you just need to be smart about how you care for the lawn. One of the most important things you can do for your grass is to water it properly.

Here are a couple tips about getting the lawn that you want, by simply watering correctly:

1. Water The Grass In The Morning

One of the most important things you can do for your lawn is to water it in the morning. This is because there needs to be a little sun to help the water soak into to the grass, but you don't want it too hot that the water evaporates.

If you water the grass in the morning, then you can expect that the water will sit on the grass long enough to really moisturize the roots.

2. Only Water The Grass A Couple Times A Week

One of the biggest mistakes that people make is watering their lawn too often. You need to consider that there will be times when it rains, there is moisture in the air, and that the grass is designed to live off a small amount of water.

This is why you should only water your lawn a couple times a week, most professionals recommend just twice a week. The exact amount will depend on your soil, but you should be able to get away with just a couple times a week.

3. Use A Timer

Not only do people water their lawns too often, they also water them for too long. When you turn on your sprinklers make sure that you have a timer on them. You shouldn't be leaving the sprinklers on for the whole day. Instead, you should be only watering for about 20 minutes. This number will change depending on the type of grass you have and the season. But as a general you, 20 minutes should be about good.

4. Stay Off The Grass

Once you water the grass it is important that you allow it to soak in without being irritated. If you let the children play on the grass, or have lots of traffic on the grass it can rip up the grass and damage it. This is why you should try to give it a little bit of time to soak it in before you play on the grass.

By doing these simple things you can be sure that your grass is watered properly. To learn more, contact a company like Krupske Sprinkler Systems with any questions you have.
